Assistant Accountant - Cape Town City Centre

Job Description: We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. The ideal candidate will have a Certificate or Diploma in Accounting and will assist with various accounting tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the financial processes.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
2. Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial data.
3. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
4. Maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
5. Assist with payroll processing and related tasks.
6. Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
7. Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
8. Provide support during financial audits.
9. Collaborate with other departments to resolve financial discrepancies.
10. Perform ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned by the Finance Manager.
Requirements:
1. Certificate or Diploma in Accounting or related field.
2. Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or in a similar role.
3. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and MS Excel.
4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Knowledge of South African tax regulations is preferred.
9. Experience in the logistics industry is a plus.
