The firm's Principal is an extremely astute Commercial Attorney with extensive experience and multiple business interests. You would gain exposure to a variety of commercial legal matters. There are opportunities to grow within the firm. Purpose The Associate Attorney with the support and drive of the Firm Principal will work on behalf of multiple clients and matters and in general legal and commercial cases and will direct and support the driving of such matters with the assigned Advocate and support staff. The incumbent will handle a wide range of potentially complicated legal matters and projects and will ensure that clients receive expert commercial legal advice and services. Financial Responsibilities Generate fees to achieve fee targets. Legal Responsibilities Ensure the correct and FICA compliant on-boarding of clients with assistance of the support staff. Consult and correspond with Firm Principle, clients, colleagues, associates, and other key stakeholders. Perform legal research and examine national, international, and local laws to identify any rules the clients must follow or conflicts that might arise. Prepare and provide commercial legal advice and services. Guide clients and ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and legislation. Research, anticipate and guard clients against legal risks. Support the Principal Attorney in all corporate and other legal processes e.g., corporate structures, Governance, company secretarial matters, agreements, transactions, compliance issues, financial/securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property matters. Structure, review, edit, draft, and administer a wide range of legal documents, agreements, and reports, company/commercial paperwork, contracts/agreements, and business reports/documents. Support the Principal Attorney in negotiating and facilitating business transactions from a legal perspective. Billing Capture own fees on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. With the support and guidance of the Bookkeeper assist and assure that proformas, invoices, and statements are created and sent to clients on a weekly basis. Run reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. When necessary, and under the direct supervision of the Bookkeeper, timeous follow up on late payments from clients in a very professional manner. Administration Manage calendars and organising diaries, interaction with both internal and external clients as well as consultants and co-ordinate, schedule and manage a variety of meetings. Schedule site inspections, court cases, hearings, and attorney/client meetings. Oversee and ensure that records are kept up to date and that the detailed docket systems to track the myriad of legal filing deadlines are maintained and adhered to; direct and supervise the indexing and updating of pleadings and discovery binders. Manage incoming and outgoing electronic and other forms of communications. Client and Vendor Management Communicate and interact with clients and vendors professionally. Relate and network with clients and other Attorneys to build and maintain effective client/network relationships. Experience and Qualifications Admitted Attorney with 1-2 years Post Admission experience a minimum requirement Commercial Law experience advantageous Completed PLT Exam Completed LLB Degree Ability to draft contracts. Exceptional ability to pay attention to detail and complete assignments. Good MS Excel Skills Must have a Drivers License and own transport are required to be able to do after hours work R20 000 - R25 000 Cost to company Per Month Comm Apply Now
