Location: South Africa (open to opportunities within South Africa or as an expat on the African Continent) Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our finance and accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in executive financial leadership roles, preferably across various industries within South Africa or on the African continent. The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organization, providing strategic guidance to senior management, and driving financial performance to support business objectives. Financial Strategy: Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's overall objectives, driving growth, profitability, and long-term sustainability. Financial Planning and Analysis: Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, providing insights into financial performance, risks, and opportunities. Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to support strategic decision-making. Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective risk management practices, including insurance coverage, hedging strategies, and internal controls. Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow projections and optimize working capital to ensure liquidity and operational stability. Capital Management: Evaluate capital allocation decisions, including investments, mergers and acquisitions, and divestitures, to maximize shareholder value. Tax Strategy: Develop tax planning initiatives to optimize tax efficiency and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations. Investor Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for investors, analysts, and other stakeholders, providing transparency and strategic communication on financial performance and corporate strategy. Team Leadership: Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and corporate governance standards, maintaining the highest ethical standards in financial reporting and business practices. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. MBA or CPA/CA qualification preferred. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, with at least 5 years in executive leadership positions. Proven track record of success in driving financial performance and operational excellence. Experience working across various industries within South Africa or on the African continent is highly desirable. Strong strategic planning and analytical skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights and recommendations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated leadership ability, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams. Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively. Proficiency in financial modelling, analysis, and reporting tools. Knowledge of regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and best practices in financial management.
