We have a great opportunity for qualified and experienced South African candidates to join a Major Infrastructure Contractor in the Bahamas. Survey / setting out Engineer Setting out, levelling and surveying the site Checking base stations prior to commencement of works and at regular intervals during currency of project/s. Carry out pre-start OGL surveys Check plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations & be familiar & comfortable with Civil 3D software. Ensure that all materials used and work performed are in accordance with the specifications Request appropriate information from client's representative via RFI's. Extract setting out data from drawings (electronic or hardcopy), schedules or instructions and set out works to the required accuracy. Record dimensions of hard breakout, soft spots, etc. as directed by the Site Agent. Provide information to operatives to assist them to construct the works. Maintain file of setting out information, calculations, as built etc. Ensure setting out equipment is properly maintained and calibrated in accordance with company procedures. Supersede drawings as new drawings are issued. Assist Project Manager/Site Agent with site records/data base input as appropriate & required. Report any safety/quality/environmental incidents or non-conformances to Project Manager/Site Agent/General Foreman. Record any instructions to confirm or change setting out information via CVI's. Ensure all setting out equipment securely locked away when not in use. Overseeing quality control. Monitoring health and safety. Keeping a site diary. Arranging meetings to keep everyone involved informed of progress. Resolving any unexpected technical problems. Liaising between design engineers and the construction team, to ensure plans and drawings are accurate and achievable. Planning and organizing work efficiently to meet deadlines is a key concern, especially when working with other consultants and/or sub-contractors engaged in a project. Must be experienced with AutoCAD, robotic total stations and GPS survey / setting out tools. Produce site layout drawings. Shortlisted candidates must have relevant qualifications with a minimum of 5 years working experience with a stable track record.
