Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: KPA1: Healthcare & Nursing duties: Day-to-day on the job training of Enrolled Nurse Auxiliaries and care providers during your shift to ensure the best nursing practice Ensuring carer allocations are in line with caring needs of residents, and as per the Livewell allocation resident-carer ratio, and that care given by nursing team is of high standard Attending to wound & catheter care Compiling reports for: Incidents Resident Care operations Hand-over on completion of shift and ensure files in nursing station are up to date WCA Weekly reports (Daily Handover) to the Head of Healthcare Regular spot checks: Medicine charts; incident reports; resident care operations; neat working environment; supervising during activities and meals and room checks Signing-off of Care Provider hand-over report before completion of shift for accuracy and completeness Monthly observations, urinary testing, weight charts and blood pressure tests of all residents to be done the first week of the month or when necessary Ensuring that medicine is administered correctly, all scripts are updated and charted in the medicine file, as signed off by the Registered Nurse Implementing and adhering to infection control measurements and protocols in handling medical wastage, bodily fluids, appropriate disposal thereof; and ensure that your team understands and adheres to these measurements Testing of Vellux system and report and compete job card for faulty equipment to the Facilities Supervisor and Head of Healthcare Ordering of incontinence wear (if Night shift – complete order electronically and email order through (copy Head of Healthcare on correspondence) Equipping the nursing station and report and compete job card for faulty equipment to the Facilities Supervisor and Head of Healthcare Handling of hearing aids On Night duty hourly checks on residents must be done Double checks on blister packs Notifying resident family of need to make doctor's appointment and proceed accordingly. Complete referral letter and inform the Head of Healthcare Accompanying residents to Doctor's/specialist visits (mostly Day Shift) Reporting back to the resident's family, Head of Healthcare after doctor's/specialist visit Training of care providers to follow new protocols Weekly checks on emergency trolley and first aid kit (to be done by night staff) Six monthly assessments on the residents and ensuring sign-off by Registered Nurse Reporting to Head of Healthcare when scripts need to be renewed and thereafter inform doctor or specialist and resident family when scripts need renewal Ensuring all Company Policies and Procedures are adhered to, including reporting any form of Elderly Abuse Assisting new residents in settling into the mini-Livewell Ensuring that all the new residents' medication has been handed over properly by family member and that we have received all the necessary healthcare reports and information required, from Occupational Therapist, Head of Healthcare or Estate Manager Making an appointment with the relevant GP/specialist when a new resident is admitted, if there is no doctor's report on record Ensuring that the integration program is implemented KPA2: Family Relations: Maintain healthy relationships with families of the residents living in the Mini Livewell Maintaining and building healthy relationships with the families of the residents in your mini-Livewell, building trust and confidence in the level of care, with compassion, through regular feedback on healthcare related matters Attending, requesting and assisting in arranging a multi-disciplinary team meeting, when needed, according to ABC Charts, or change in Healthcare regime, or abnormal behaviour of a resident and give feedback to the families upon conclusion of the meeting on healthcare related matters to be implemented Healthcare related reports to resident's families are consistently of high standard, which includes Doctor's visit feedback, or correspondence after a hospital visit with follow-ups to the family Informing families of any concerns that are healthcare-related or change in medication, as per the Family Communications Protocol KPA3: Operations & Facilities Doing regular safety and room checks. Ensuring passages are free of obstacles according to Health and Safety regulations and report obstacles immediately Reporting any hospitality incidents to appropriate Supervisor. Completing and submitting necessary job card requests and following up on progress KPA4: Supervisory/Leadership Skills and Duties: Managing staff reporting to you, ensuring they understand their deliverables & work expectations Regular meetings with staff reporting to you Ensuring staff are suitably attired according to the Uniform Policy before commencing of shift Providing oversight, direction, recognition, and development opportunities in the team, and addressing performance problems through action plans Communicating a vision, set unit goals for your team, developing strategies, and taking action to ensure the efficient use of resources, and ensuring it is followed through Assisting ENAs when they require advice on how to handle a behavioral situation Other duties, including but noted limited to: Liaise with the rest of the Quality of Life team to improve residents' quality of life Quality of life brainstorms with multi-disciplinary teams Quality of life meetings with families (mostly day shift, although night shift may be requested to attend and/or submit written feedback reports) Facilities and Safety – adhere to safety protocols, safety and room checks and follow evacuation and emergency procedures To apply email a detailed CV and your qualifications to: hrbryanstonlivewell.care Secondary Qualification: Matric Certificate Tertiary Qualification: Enrolled Nurse qualification with valid SANC Registration Compliance with the South African Nursing Council code for an Enrolled Nurse and all applicable healthcare legislation Language Professional Proficiency (read, write & speak): English Experience in Dementia care Be able to work independently Computer literate At least 2 years' experience in nursing, performing all duties required in the scope of practice for an Enrolled Nurse Understand resident hygiene and health and safety requirements. Capacity to implement and maintain healthcare standards required in accordance with applicable regulatory bodies and legislation Excellent personal hygiene Clean criminal record Apply Now
