We're looking for a someone who can analyse engineering tenders in their sleep. If you have 8 years of experience in successfully developing tenders in Structural, Mechanical, and piping projects, you might be exactly who we are looking for. Our client, a leading innovator in the construction industry, is looking for a SMP Estimator who is mad about details to join their team. Your meticulous attention to detail would see you interpreting tender documents, specifications, and drawings for various projects, ensuring that the overall accuracy of any material produced by our client is up to code. You would prepare subcontract provider packages, and cost estimates and proposals. In addition to this, you would be involved in the introduction of new techniques in estimating, and the adjudication and negotiation of materials, equipment, and subcontract quotations. Perhaps most crucial to this role, however, is ensuring that an accurate bid analysis is conducted, and all respective quotations are received . Occasional visits to project site will be required. RESPONSIBILITIES In this role, you would be responsible for preparing estimates for Structural, Mechanical, and Piping projects as directed by the Estimating Manager or their designate. This includes carefully interpreting tender documents, specifications, and drawings, as well as checking the accuracy of materials take-offs and bills of quantities. You would also prepare subcontract and materials service provider packages, adjudicate and negotiate quotations, and ensure all estimates are in accordance with company instructions and procedures. Additionally, you would cooperate in implementing new estimating techniques, conduct site visits as necessary, and collaborate with team members to prepare estimates and proposals efficiently. Adherence to company procedures for estimating and procurement, completion of detailed spreadsheets, and maintaining accurate bid analyses are also key responsibilities. Any other guidance provided by the Estimating Manager or their designate should also be followed diligently. SKILLS High attention to detail Negotiation skills Proficient in use of MS Office Suite and CCS Result-driven and independent worker Able to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Technology EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 8 years of experience of successfully developing tenders in Structural, Mechanical, and piping projects Experience in the development and cost estimate of construction execution plans Excellent track record of stakeholder engagement (clients & supply chain) Embedded knowledge of engineering and construction landscape R940k - R950k CTC per annum
