Main Purpose of The Job: • The key purpose of the estimator position is to ensure timeous and accurate execution of estimates relating to pricing request received from internal/external customers. • Commercial insight to be provided through evaluation of estimate results to improve the company's strike rate and reporting on same. • Treat internal and external customers with respect and do what is necessary, within company. Duties: • Prepare accurate estimates, relevant to mode of transport and direction – Import/Export/Cross Trade (Air/Road/Sea) – received from Customers, Primary Agents, Inter-branch and origin. offices. Proficiency of Breakbulk, OOG, tender and project enquiries will be advantageous. • Able to “think out the box” (entrepreneurial) to offer customers an alternative, cost-effective, pricing solution. • Sound Knowledge and understanding of shipping practices within the shipping environment, and its service offerings, Custom Control Act, forwarding principles and commercial terms (Incoterms). • Follow through on estimates from receipt of enquiry to closure – follow up with customer to determine if the company was successful in securing the business. • Provide administrative support and back up that includes rate analysis and maintenance. • Ensure all activities are compliant with current legal and company specific regulations through, utilization of the preferred vetted list of vendors to minimise the company's risk. Understand the impact of pricing on profit margins and identify best rate and service. • Maintain efficient administrative procedures & upload documents and correspondence onto • eDocs in Cargo Wise. • Work closely with the Division head to ensure best pricing is obtained for all modes of transport. • Weekly report back to the Line Manager by means of an estimate register/report to gauge, success rate of estimates. • Must be able to manage work, performance, and processes – prioritise workload through. effective time management. • Ability to work under pressure and deadline driven. • May occasionally have to work additional hours to complete critical estimates. Minimum Requirements: • Grade 12 • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Estimator role within the freight forwarding industry. • Computer literate with knowledge for Excel, Word, and Outlook. • Knowledge of CW1 will be advantageous. • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, mathematical, and analytical skills. • Good sense of finance or accounting principles. • Must be organised, self-disciplined, a team player and customer service orientated. • Accuracy and attention to detail imperative. • INCOTERMS knowledge, non-negotiable.
