Job Title: Field Services Technician Function: Operations Occupational Level: Skilled Technical Reports to: (position) Director (Cape Town) No of Direct Reports: None No of Indirect Reports: None Job Responsibilities • Responsible for ensuring the engineering design and plant built meets the requirements of the customer. • To overview the design plan and advise engineering if any changes required due to customer specifics that may have been missed. • Commission of plant to customer site • Provide technical advice to customers • Any issues on site , be able to troubleshoot and advise of solutions for implementation to meet project timelines • Delivery of stock to customers, accept stock at Cape Town warehouse, check that all stock on site is sufficient to complete an order • Liase with Procurement on stock levels and ordering • Ensuring that accurate and correct parts are used when manufacturing. • Ensuring you have a clear understanding of the design signed off by Engineering and Customer • Responsible for picking parts/stock required for manufacturing the plant if smaller plant and can be built in Cape Town • When pulling products from shelves, or repacking shelves to keep tidy, all stock needs to be rotated according to the First In First Out (FIFO) Principal. • Products and shelves are to be routinely inspected to ensure that they are not damaged. Any damages must be reported as they occur, so the relevant action may be taken. All damages / breakages, and any incidents on site, are to be reported to Director Cape Town • Any deviations on design needs to be reported to the Director in Cape Town and signed off by Head of Engineering. • Responsible for maintenance on all instrumentation and calibration thereof • Responsible for verification of programming • Complete the electrical wiring of all boxes. • Achieve customer requirements in piping design accuracy and Quality and Equipment performance. • Be an active functional member of the Operations team. • Any stock related issues that hinders the completion of a plant built must be reported immediately to the Director Cape Town. • When on site pipeworks are to be completed ensure, this is done accordance to the maintenance and field service order and that all stock used are accurately documented. • Consistently adhere to Company policies and procedures. • Perform all tasks to a high standard to meet Standard Operating Procedures and Codes of Conduct • Communicate effectively with fellow staff and Management to ensure long-term goals and targets are met. • Perform other duties as assigned. • Maintain regular attendance. Site Technician responsibilities: • Responsible for site monitoring the plant performance and data recording this will be an addition to the job spec• Monitors the chemical and consumable performance. • Interacts with the clients • Provide detailed site reports • Installation and Commissioning: o Prior to installation, the Field Services Technician must review the project plans and equipment specifications to ensure all necessary materials and tools are available. o The technician will then travel to the client site and perform a thorough site inspection to determine the best location for equipment installation. o The technician will then follow the proper procedures for installation, including assembling and connecting all components, calibrating equipment, and testing for functionality. o Upon completion of installation, the technician will obtain sign-off from the client and provide a comprehensive report to the Field Service Manager. • Servicing and Maintenance: o Regular servicing and maintenance of the water treatment equipment is crucial for its performance and longevity. The Field Services Technician will create a schedule for routine maintenance and service visits to client sites. o During these visits, the technician will inspect all components, perform necessary repairs or replacements, and complete any required maintenance tasks. o The technician will also be responsible for troubleshooting any equipment issues and providing solutions to the client. • Equipment Integrity and Performance: o The Field Services Technician is responsible for ensuring the equipment is functioning at optimal levels and meeting the client's requirements for water treatment. o The technician will monitor equipment performance and make necessary adjustments or repairs to maintain its integrity. o In case of any equipment failures, the technician will promptly report to the Field Service Manager and work towards resolving the issue in a timely manner. • Communication and Documentation: o The Field Services Technician must maintain clear and effective communication with the Field Service Manager and other team members. o All equipment installation, servicing, and maintenance activities must be documented thoroughly and accurately. o The technician must also keep track of inventory and report any equipment deficiencies or needs to the Field Service Manager. • Safety: o The Field Services Technician must adhere to all safety regulations and protocols while working at client sites. o The technician must also ensure that all safety equipment is maintained and utilized properly during equipment installation, servicing, and maintenance. Qualifications: Minimum Grade 12 preferred to ensure succession planning to other roles. Minimum: Trade certificate or NQF level 4. Ideal: Degree/diploma.Need to have acceptable level of numeracy and literacy. Preferably technical background and NQF 5 Pipefitting or similar technical qualification Proven experience in field service or maintenance of water treatment equipment. Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, equipment, and systems. • Experience: On the Job Training will drive efficiency for this role Technical acumen (could have had technical subject at school) Industry experience advantage given. Code 8 driving license required • Traits: Good communication skills English – read and write. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair techniques. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Attention to detail and commitment to quality work. • Accreditations/Licences: Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites. Apply Now
