Job Title : Governance Officer Location : Sandton, Johannesburg (Hybrid Work Model) Type of Employment: Contract (6 Months, with potential for extension) Job Summary : A reputable financial services giant is seeking a dedicated Governance Officer to join their corporate governance team in Sandton, Johannesburg. The successful candidate will support the Company Secretary in maintaining and enhancing governance frameworks and ensuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Company Secretary in the development and implementation of governance frameworks. Ensure compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI) and the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA). Prepare and review legal documents and corporate governance reports. Advise and support various departments on governance and legal issues. Manage and oversee company policies related to data protection and privacy. Coordinate and facilitate board meetings and ensure proper documentation of proceedings. Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance practices and procedures. Qualifications: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Admitted attorney in South Africa. 3 - 5 years experience in a similar environment Strong understanding of and experience with the POPI Act and the BCEA. Proven experience in a governance role, preferably within a corporate or legal environment. Skills: Excellent legal analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with senior management. High level of professionalism and ethical standards R480,000 - R520,000 per annum based on qualifications and experience
