Our client is a Coffee Company that leads a movement reclaiming Africa's coffee heritage, bringing you the finest brews from the mother continent. With fair trade practices, they uplift communities by sourcing beans from respected African co-operatives. They are in search of a Head of Finance to join their team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in defining the commercial strategy and direction of the business by providing strategic, commercial, operational, and financial support to the SA business. Will manage this by ensuring the delivery and ongoing development of the commercial objectives of the business, through targeted support and strategic financial direction for the store, operations, marketing and other business functions. Reporting And Analysis To lead and execute full month-end and year-end financial reporting activities as required by the SA business unit and to provide financial reports as required by both the business and statutory law. Review of monthly, quarterly and annual reports and provide a comprehensive interpretation and analysis for variances on spend status vs budget Lead the detailed forecasting model to trend performance and identify trading gaps from a store and a brand perspective Partner with the marketing, sales and commercial teams in developing budgets, forecasts and targets to meet the strategic objectives of the business and to co-ordinate with Partners where necessary. Provide detailed reports on status of performance against the agreed to budgets, forecasts and targets and communicate to the relevant teams regularly as required Drive brand profitability analysis and deep dives looking at product mix, brand fixed initiatives and elaborate recommendations to address brand profitability issues Control Provide analysis, manage and monitor all commercial arrangements in regard to performance Provide ROI analysis by region and make necessary recommendations and / or take action to correct or enhance investment where required Develop and provide detailed financial and commercial analysis and reporting on market growth feasibility and profitability as well as provide up to date pricing structures to the business To develop and approve post launch evaluation of all Innovation / New Product Development project as well as key promotional activities to provide regular and accurate ROI analysis and reporting to maximize profitable growth. Ensure that key learnings out of this are implemented by the relevant teams Process Development Leverage the Company's reporting system to develop efficiencies for the restaurant space and any other sales channels (B2B/Digital Marketing). Continually challenge the existing reporting methods, using best in class techniques and to ensure analytical advances. Lead the business in appropriate new ways of commercially focused process development. Partner Development Lead Region profitability analysis with Marketing and Stores to identify drivers of profit improvement and guide them with their actions moving forward. Manage financial analysis and innovation process by working with the various stakeholders to ensure optimal use of financial resources resulting in profitable volume growth. To lead the direction of and support commercial teams on pricing & providing financial portfolio modeling and scenario analysis. To review proposed pricing and promotional activities. Understand and monitor partner profitability in line with agreed profitability measures and provide regular updates and reports on status of partner profitability and recommend corrective action or opportunities. Analyse and make recommendations on all aspects of business to ensure cross functional and business communication to deliver a co-ordinated approach. Attendance at key commercially orientated meetings giving team support and challenge as appropriate. Provide regular agreed commercial financial information to the business. Team Development Mentor and coach commercial / balance of team on sound accounting principles and principles of sound corporate governance. To strike the right balance between accounting principles and added value. Keep a close eye on sound internal control and risk management methodologies to assist commercial members of the team to effectively control, manage and report on their spend against agreed budgets. Reporting Report directly to Founder / CEO Attendance at key board meetings presenting comprehensive financial performance analyses Experience Required The candidate must have at least 5 years' experience within the FMCG, retail, hospitality or consumer environment at a Finance Executive/Business partnering level Qualifications Ideally the candidate must be a fully qualified Accountant (CA, CIMA, ACCA, CPA) Apply Now
