INTERNAL AND EX TERNAL ADVERTISEMENT FACULTY OF ENGINEERING, BUILT ENVIRONMENT AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Applications are hereby invited for the following positions L ECTURER (Permanent ) Peromnes P 8 Reference No: WSU-BCC F EBEIT 0 4 /20 2 4 / 0 5 Learning and Teaching Able to lecture and assess Transportation Engineering modules within the department of Civil Engineering. Ability to teach at all levels (Diploma and Advanced Diploma) and supervise research projects. Manage experiential training of final year students; Contribute towards the development and implementation of a WSU and Faculty teaching and learning strategy. Renew and develop the curriculum to align it with emerging needs of society. Preparing course outlines and student module guides (SMGs) for students. Develop student-centred teaching methodologies. Improve assessment practices to meet external standards. Participate in the continuous development and improvement of tools for effective assessment of Graduate Attributes as stipulated in the ECSA Qualification Standards of the Programmes running in the department. Promote greater interaction with industry, business and government to improve teaching and learning. Continually improve and enhance the academic support systems for students. Undertake a planned and regular schedule of evaluative surveys Regularise a quality review process for all academic Walter Sisulu University programmes. Develop and implement strategies to use Journal of Curriculum and Teaching (JCT) as an enabler for teaching and learning. Research Contribute towards the development and implementation of a WSU and Faculty research strategy. Initiate research, community engagement and seminar activities. Develop and participate in research projects. Identify suitable candidates to participate in research projects. Draw up performance plans for research teams. Manage research projects to achieve objectives. Participate in research paper publications. Commercialisation of research output Research capacity building Other : Community engagement and partnership with government departments or private entities Performing and carrying delegated administrative duties of the department. Skills and Competencies : Ability to supervise research at undergraduate level and develop research capacity Ability and willingness to undertake administrative responsibilities. Ability and willingness to participate in community engagement projects and related activities. Sound interpersonal skills including commitment to collegiality and equal opportunities. Good communication and people management skills Computer literacy and competency in applications of Windows: Word, Excel, Power point presentation and Civil Engineering design applications within the field of expertise Ability to use digital technologies in online leaning. leadership and Conflict resolution skills A Master's degree in Civil Engineering majoring in Transportation Engineering . Professional registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) . Minimum of t wo ( 2 ) years of relevant teaching/lecturing or industry experience .
