CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
1.
To teach IsiXhosa Home Language at undergraduate level.
2.
To teach isiXhosa Conversational Competence at undergraduate level.
3.
To contribute to faculty administration as required.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Facilitate the learning, teaching, and assessment processes in the faculty.
Participate in academic engagement.
Participate in faculty administration.
Conduct, publish and promote research.
Supervise postgraduate students.
CORE COMPETENCIES
Facilitation of learning, teaching, and assessment.
Teaching of IsiXhosa Home Language and isiXhosa Conversational Competence at undergraduate level.
Have a sound knowledge of learning, teaching, and assessment strategies.
Be able to teach isiXhosa Conversational Competence to English and Afrikaans Home Language speakers.
Be able to converse (speak) read and write in isiXhosa.
Be able to facilitate and engage in curriculum development processes at undergraduate level.
Be able to conduct scholarly work with an increasing focus on Africanization and Decolonization of the curriculum at undergraduate level.
REQUIREMENTS
A relevant Masters degree (M Ed or MA Linguistics or Language Education specializing in isiXhosa).
A two-year experience of teaching language (IsiXhosa and English or one of these two languages) at school or university level.
Sound disciplinary and content knowledge of IsiXhosa Home Language.
Sound disciplinary and content knowledge of IsiXhosa Conversational Competence.
Sound knowledge of various techniques for teaching isiXhosa Home Language and isiXhosa Conversational Competence.
Experience with Moodle, or similar learning platforms, will be an advantage.
