Voltex is looking to employ a Mechanical Designer for their MV/LV division in Cato ridge. This incumbent will be reporting to Senior Management and Directors of the division. The position of Mechanical Designer – AutoCAD - Inventor consists of planning, organizing, leading & taking control of your working environment and to coordinate in the mechanical design department. The role of a Mechanical Designer – AutoCAD - Inventor means that you are accountable within your working environment in ensuring all your actions are in accordance with company policies, quality standards, relevant codes & the requirements of your position. Confer with management to resolve worker problems, Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments. Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and production/construction problems. Inspect, Implement, and review projects to monitor compliance with Project programs, Materials procurement, Cost tracking, Timekeeping of staff, Project/SHE file updates, Updating & maintaining Company & Project programs, Redlining of drawings etc. Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned within the production/mechanical and maintenance of structures, facilities, equipment, and systems. Carry out stock orders, work packs; design, pricing & order processing of various projects, NCR's & Internal auditing, research & development of new innovative ways to improve products, estimating duties, CNC training & assistance, company designs, Provide preliminary designs and cost estimates for materials and services. Designing schematic drawings, DXF files and complex mechanical drawings utilizing software such as CAD, Inventor and Trutops Boost software applications. Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines. Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies affecting projects and or works. Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training as well as directing and coordinating the activities of employees engaged in the production & construction works, such as Artisans, Semi-skilled assistants etc. Provide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes. Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions, & Interpret specifications, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers, as well as carrying out site repairs. Observe work and monitor to ensure that works conform to production & construction standards. Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production/construction sequences to meet production/construction goals. Read and analyse charts, work orders, schedules, and other records and reports to determine work requirements and to evaluate current production/construction estimates and outputs. Carry out any physical work (on the tools) required and or to assist employees in meeting target deadlines, project timeframes and or staff shortages. Inspect electrical & mechanical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Maintain knowledge of your industry & ensure constant growth of such knowledge as well as sharing such knowledge with others for the benefit & efficiency of the company. Perform business management duties such as ensuring all relevant paperwork is up-to date, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and ordering supplies and equipment etc. Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair various works. Provide assistance during emergencies when required (e.g: Being on Standby 24/7 & to assist whether afterhours and or on weekends); Confer & enforce budget constraints, Material estimating and controlling. Meeting target deadlines and carry out all tasks instructed competently. Entertaining of clients when required & being a link as a customer liaison by Marketing of all services rendered by the Company. Maintenance checks, cleaning and upkeep of vehicles and tools as well as Cleaning and maintaining work areas. Trade or equivalent Diploma in Mechanical design engineering. Supervisory Qualification or Equivalent. 3 years' experience in similar field Read, Write & Computer Literate. Driver's license. Ability to manage one's own time and the time of others, to give full attention to what other people are saying, and to use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions. Ability to motivate, develops, and directs people as they work and identify the best people for the job. To be Fit, Healthy & of Sober mind, reliable and accountable.
