An opportunity has become available for a Medical Detailing Representative, servicing the Southern Suburbs and Garden Route in the Western Cape, reporting to the Sales Director with the possible start date of 01 June 2024 . As Medical Detailing Representative, your primary role is to engage with healthcare professionals, including General Practitioners, Specialists, Pharmacists, and Clinic Sisters, to detail and educate them about our product portfolio. You'll manage your customer base and territory effectively while promoting the benefits of our products in alignment with company guidelines. Your contribution will be pivotal in achieving our company's marketing and sales objectives. 1. Sales and Marketing Call on and detail medical practitioners, Pharmacists, Clinic Sisters, and any other medical professionals, as per designated list. Arrange, plan, and attend CMEs/round tables. Provide input into detailing and marketing plans for medical practitioners. Implement and ensure successful rollout of marketing activities and plans. Keep up to date with latest clinical data, and interpret, present, and discuss this data with health care professionals. Attend various medical, retail, expos, and functions. Promote products to the relevant target markets. Assist in the planning and attend training events as required. Achieve call-rate and coverage targets as per company targets or as agreed with line manager. Attend various retail expos/functions as required. Ensure product ranging guidelines are followed and suggest additional products at store level. Obtain and maintain visual market share at customers with on-shelf execution of relevant point of sale (shelf management). Detailing. Cross merchandising (Clicks GRV). Business reviews. 2. Product Knowledge and Development Keep up to date with the latest product information and knowledge and train customers in line with company guidelines. Attending sales meetings, conference calls, training sessions and ad hoc marketing functions. 3. Customers Maintain customer relationship at store level (Pharmacists, pharmacy assistant, front shop assistant, clinic sisters or nurses). Optimizing marketing opportunities within stores. Provide in-store product training to shop and pharmacy assistants when and where applicable as per KPIs. Effective territory management with required traveling in designated area Maintain customer status potential by evaluating them accordingly – gain, regain, retain, develop. Collect data and communicate to identify competitive trends. Act as product and service ambassador through promotion of products, image, and values of the company. Corporate Customers: adhere to protocols as per set corporate customer and its systems. 4. Administration Report on monthly sales performance and other feedback as required. Correct use of RepWise Management System (timeous call capture, adherence with Repwise SOPs). Routine administrative tasks timeously processed as required (rep expenses, training form submissions, etc). Carefully monitor expenditure, in hosting of various functions and lunches as per company guidelines. Monitoring of commercial customers using SSD. 5. General Promote corporate values and contribute towards a positive work environment. Any other reasonable and lawful responsibility which may be required from time to time. Qualifications and Knowledge Essential Matric Computer Literacy (MS Office Suite). ​​​​​​​ Advantageous Tertiary qualification: degree or diploma – preferably in marketing, sales or medical-related field. Knowledge of the territory and customer base the position serves. Divisional specific computer knowledge: Understanding of systems: Orderwise, Xprocure, Unisolve, and Repwise. Bilingual (English and Afrikaans). Additional / Specific work requirements Valid driver's license. Own, reliable, roadworthy vehicle. Assist training team with filtered down customer complaints where required and applicable. Experience Essential Previous pharmaceutical sales/detailing/training experience, and proven track record (at least two years). Advantageous Divisional Specific: Natural Products: Good knowledge and understanding, with an integrative medical approach, of natural medicine products and Industry, and has worked with natural or CAM's (Complementary Alternative Medicine) products. Divisional Specific: Good understanding of OTC and prescription medicine markets. Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology (with biology/life science at secondary school level). Knowledge of General Practitioners, Specialists, Clinic Sisters, Pharmacists, and other medical professionals' environment. Confident, self-disciplined, and present a professional image as per company guidelines and policy. Clear understanding of the scheduling and operational requirements/conduct of Dischem and Clicks. Presentation and public speaking skills. Able to operate independently with a high level of integrity. Inventory and stock management knowledge in the retail environment. Knowledge of finance and business (trade margins/mark ups, profit etc.) Excellent sales and negotiation, and networking skills. Awareness of recent in-trade developments. A passion for products and the role they play in healthcare. Self-motivated and target driven with an optimistic demeanor. Confident, self-disciplined, and present a professional image as per company guidelines. Good planning, organizing, administration and time management skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to converse at all levels (ability to convey message). Ability to train customers on product benefits as per company standards/guidelines. Creative and innovative approach to problem solving. Resilience, stress tolerance and flexible approach to challenges. Conflict management. Team player.
