The Lapalala Wilderness Nature Reserve, being an equal opportunity employer, is seeking to employ a qualified and experienced Plant operator. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the following operational aspects. · Driving and operating the various plant equipment safely and efficiently (Front end loader, grader, tipper truck, roller, water truck, tractors and trailers) · Perform daily inspections and maintenance of the machines and reporting of identified faults timeously. · Ensuring the safety of personnel, equipment and objects while operating plant machines. · Keeping the plant machines clean and in good operating condition · Assist in general reserve management and operational work not limited to water provision, road maintenance including operation of tractors, waste management and general workshop assistant duties when need arises. · Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor or line manager. Qualifications, experience, and requirements. · Grade 8 – 12. · At least 1 – 3 years’ experience on all relevant plant machinery. · Basic knowledge of plant machinery operations. · Good interpersonal and communication skills. · Moderate reading and writing skills. · Must be able to work independently and in a team. · Must be able to work in unfavorable working conditions, including in both hot and cold as well as during rainy conditions. · Ability to follow instructions. · Must be able to complete physical work. · Must have physical strength and stamina, good eyesight to complete difficult tasks. Additional information. · Interested parties are expected to provide a detailed Curriculum Vitae along with contactable references as well as copies of relevant qualifications. · This position is ideally suitable for a single person, but not limited to. · Suitable unfurnished accommodation will be provided. · Lights, water, and Wi-Fi communication are included. · A salary will be negotiated based on qualifications and experience. · Uniforms and PPE are provided. · Transport on the reserve is provided. · A six- month probation period will be included in the contract. · The successful incumbent will be required to undergo criminal background checks. · A shortlist of successful applicants will be notified 14 days after the closing date for applications.
