Private Game Reserve Manager - Warmbaths

Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of lodge operations, including guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, and security.
  • Guest Experience: Ensure that guests receive exceptional service throughout their stay, from arrival to departure, and address any concerns or requests promptly and professionally.
  • Conservation Leadership: Develop and implement conservation initiatives to preserve and protect the reserve's natural habitat and wildlife.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, and manage a team of staff, including guides, rangers, and hospitality personnel, to deliver high-quality services and experiences.
  • Financial Management: Prepare and manage budgets, control costs, and optimize revenue streams to ensure the financial success of the reserve.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement strategies to attract guests and promote the reserve's unique offerings.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards to provide a safe environment for guests, staff, and wildlife.
  • Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with local communities and stakeholders, contributing to social development initiatives and promoting responsible tourism practices.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Monitor and assess the environmental impact of reserve activities, implementing sustainable practices and minimizing ecological footprint.
  • Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response protocols, including evacuation procedures and crisis management plans, to ensure the safety and well-being of guests and staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Business Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management role within a 5-star lodge or luxury hospitality environment.
  • Passion for wildlife conservation and sustainable tourism practices.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with guests, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, analyze financial data, and drive revenue growth.
  • Knowledge of South African wildlife, flora, and fauna, with experience in safari guiding preferred.
  • First Aid and Firearm Competency Certificates
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
