An international automotive OEM is seeking for a Product Development Engineer to fill the Component Engineer - Body position in Product Engineering Division (Kariega) Brief Role Description To ensure car products are engineered to local market requirements by designing, developing, testing and introducing locally manufactured components, by adapting and developing German sourced designs to be compatible with local environmental conditions and by issuing technical data in line with the correct component engineering level to meet the following criteria: Company products are built problem free Local requirements in terms of local content are met Unique product features Safety and reliability in service Discontinued models but still required in South Africa Adhering to the required Product Emergence Process (PEP) manual. Possible Tasks within this Role The release of vehicle body components via engineering processes and systems. The resolution of design related problems on all locally manufactured platforms. Keep accurate record of part level and Bill of Material. Co-ordination of testing and release of components & systems. Initiate and drive cost savings on components into production. Good problem solving and communication skills and have to function well within a group environment. Qualification requirements National Diploma or Degree in Mechatronics/ Mechanical Engineering Experience needed 5 year's experience in Supplier/Quality/ Engineering of automotive components (Development / Improvements / Problem solving) Essentials Initiative, be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent communication skills to all levels Ability to quickly learn and understand complex components/systems/networks Good technical problem solving ability Computer literate (Microsoft Office tools) Knowledge in various plastic/rubber/ metal forming technologies required Willingness to travel and learn German and/or Portuguese language Added advantage Knowledge of automotive components assemblies i.e. Body in White, etc. Problem solving experience related to production and supplier challenges Component development experience German and/or Portuguese communication skills Basic salary negotiable plus benefits (medical aid, car allowance, provident fund, bonus, relocation allowance) Apply Now
