The candidate will be responsible to lead and coordinate the strategic efforts of the product marketing team to ensure the successful introduction, promotion, and lifecycle management of the brand.
Duties:- Continually benchmark the Groups products vs competitor offerings and monitor industry developments for threats and opportunities to propose appropriate action.
- Development of strategic product plans to meet customer requirements (ie Rationale, range, specification, positioning, pricing, volumes, and model mix).
- Provide research and technical data for all Product Concepts to be used for initial input and planning for the following areas: Product milestones, Lifecycle ideas, Retail to FOB evaluations, Product Requests.
- Implementation of product plans as representated in cross divisional project team meetings, PMM and Pricing Meeting.
- Support the respective Product Specialist in Local Team meetings and Take to Market meetings.
- Supervising the new vehicle introduction process to ensure all deadlines are met and launches are not delayed.
- Development of Product Bulletins for the dealer organization regarding all product innovation or changes.
- Ensuring the accuracy of the monthly Pricing Report and negotiating the annual price positioning strategy recommended for the market.
- Supervision of the price indexing methodology to ensure correct price positioning and model build-up for all products relative to competitors.
- Managing the planning and implementation of feasibility studies for potential models to be imported into South Africa, including vehicle clinics.
- Supervising and developing reporting staff by setting of work-related objectives, appraising performance and behavior, and where necessary, initiating/providing specialist training to maximize the potential of individuals to maintain a high-performance culture and team motivation.
Requirements:- A formal 3-year bachelors degree/National Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution, preferably in Commerce/Finance/Marketing/Business Management
Experience Needed:- 2 years of product planning experience (Previous product planning experience in the automotive industry will be ideal).
- 5 years experience in engineering, volume planning, market research or brand management.
- 3 years supervisor experience.
