The following opportunity exists for a seasoned Mining professional with a proven track record managing mining projects operations roles and who is hungry to play a pivotal role in enabling the International Mining House to become the anchor of growth for the Southern African Mining Industry to join the Projects team. The incumbent will play a critical role in enabling the pipeline of Growth Projects totaling to the value of 1, 5 bn in next 3 - 5 years. KEY FUNCTIONAL SKILLS Experience in mining projects from early development / concept stages Mine planning and design Managing and evaluating contract mining as well as performance management and development of mining contractors from pre stripping and mining operational readiness Construction of associated infrastructure, handover Experience of handling large budgets independently in a project from concept to commissioning Experience of project planning and ordering Track record of working on site and executing the project within the time lines Budgetary control and experience of completing the projects within costs Planning project resources Coordinate internal resources and business partners for the flawless execution of projects Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget Thorough understanding of the relevant regulatory framework in South Africa KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS SHEQ Compliance Ensure and maintain legal compliance Meet with business partners to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members' individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels Track project performance, specifically to analyse the successful completion of short and long term goals Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis Qualified Mining Engineer Min 10/12 years of relevant experience Proven working experience in project management in open pit mining development and Operations experience in metalliferous open cast mining Excellent written and verbal communication skills Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification is a plus Mine Managers certificate of competency (Advantageous) MBA (Advantageous) Market Related
