Reference: DUR002083-CW-1 DUR002081 – Senior Accountant - JHB Purpose of the job: To oversee the financial management, compliance, and strategic support for the organization's property and gaming portfolios. This includes managing accounting processes, preparing financial reports, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing analysis to support decision-making and growth initiatives. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree / diploma in finance, accounting, or a related field. Technical Competencies and responsibilities Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a property accounting role. Strong understanding of South African property accounting standards and tax regulations (SARS property income tax). Experience with fixed asset accounting and depreciation calculations. Proficiency in accounting software such as Pastel and Sage. Prepare, analyze, and reconcile monthly financial statements for all portfolios. Oversee fixed asset accounting, including depreciation calculations and property valuations. Maintain and analyze operating budgets, identifying and addressing variances. Coordinate the year-end closing process for assigned properties. Assist with tax preparation and liaise with external auditors during annual audits. Prepare weekly financial reports based on turnover, purchases, and gross income. Provide insightful financial analysis and reporting to support investment decisions and management strategies.
