Senior Buyer - Direct Materials - Port Elizabeth
RESPONSIBILITY
MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE (STAINLESS STEEL)
We seek a suitably qualified individual to ensure that production is adequately supplied with appropriate quality material at optimal cost.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Ordering raw material via MRP system weekly.
Expediting and following up on orders to arrive on time.
Evaluate appropriate use of alternative suppliers.
Measuring of supplier performance.
Ensure information on the system regarding delivery performance and master data is accurate.
Ensure the appropriate quality product is procured at the lowest cost
Develop existing and new suppliers.
Driving cost saving initiatives.
Ordering raw materials (stainless steel) ( Liasing with Suppliers, forecast and demand to suppliers)
Inventory controlling ( stock takings, cycle counts)
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE
Be in possession of NDip. Logistics or Purchasing or equivalent.
At least 5 years working experience within a purchasing and functional logistics in an Manufacturing Industry (steel industry).
Knowledge of raw material with complex specifications, including stainless steel and imports.
5 years experience in supervising or managing staff in a purchasing environment.
Sound knowledge of ERP Purchasing and Logistics Systems.
