Robert Walters South Africa Job Description for the Senior Manager: Oversight of all restricted grants (currently 65 grants ranging from $50k to $20m): Develop budgets for the Funding Development Board/working with peers across the organisation to critically assess all project proposals, highlighting contribution to core, major risks around delivery and developing forecasting Work closely with the grant management team throughout the grant management cycle, acting as finance partner to the team, spotting and managing risk in the portfolio. Quality control of all restricted project reporting, internal and external quality control and consolidation of all project forecasts Support the Project Accountants to respond to Programme Managers on queries on all financial aspects of grants Work collaboratively on funding proposals, ensuring core recovery is maximised and budgets are appropriately developed. Critically review all restricted budgets in funding proposals Line management of at least four Project Accountants Review and approve all restricted role hires and staff changes Be the lead finance contact point for key strategic funders, including but not limited to, Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Prepare the monthly overhead journal in partnership with inputs from the Project Accountants Work within a team composed of a diverse group of professionals that support a global organisation Assist in implementing new systems, updating policies, and supporting any other projects and tasks as determined by the organisation. Undertaking projects as requested by the Head of Finance - Grants Candidate profile: Qualified Accountant (CA(SA) required) Strong technical accounting skills Experience in a finance, or audit, role with experience of demanding deadlines and working collaboratively with non-finance colleagues Experience in NGO/Grant space is not a requirement, however a keen sense to learn and understand the space is required Strong management skills and able to motivate and lead a team. Experience in people management is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present information in a way that is understandable for different audiences, including the Management Team Ability to work flexibly and embrace change, and to prioritise and re-prioritise multiple tasks Excellent analytical skills and effectively problem solve Experience of working internationally, dealing with multiple currencies Interest in working in the charity/not-for-profit sector and/or environmental and sustainability issues or an international organisation preferred Experience in using SUN Systems / Infor Q&A and Concur (desirable) Apply Now
