Zibo Containers, a manufacturer of thermoformed plastic packaging, has a vacancy for a self-motivated, dynamic and driven Senior Setter to be based in Olifantsfontein, Johannesburg. Coordinate & control planning and supervision of subordinate setters and operators to efficiently perform planned mould changes. Optimise the setting procedure safely to maximize cycle time and reduce loss time. Provide support for the Extrusion Production Managers to verify priorities and report on mould production readiness. Good mould change procedures & practice. Basic understanding of BRC Version 6: Packaging Standards & Requirements. Manage and support SHEQ initiatives and objectives. PET/HIPS/PP General material knowledge and basic extrusion fault finding. Determine setup procedures and select machine dies and parts, according to specifications. Start machines and set controls to regulate vacuum, air pressure, thickness, and temperature, and to synchronize speed of extrusion. Measure and examine extruded sheets to locate defects and to check for conformance to specifications, adjusting controls as necessary to alter products. Grade 12 Preferably a Qualified (trade tested) Artisan: Fitter/Setter Relevant training certificate for on-the-job machine setting on, sheet extrusion, compounding-and-co-extrusion. Relevant proof of strong technical/mechanical skills and working experience in setting machinery. Experience in plastic sheet extrusion will be a distinct advantage, 5-7 years' experience in blow moulding, sheet extrusion, compounding-and-co-extrusion and/or Injection moulding Troubleshooting and basic repairs on above mentioned machines will be considered an advantage. Must demonstrate above average knowledge in working with PP, PET or HIPS material.
