Responsibilities: Improve the processes and practices the team follow Pro-active in seeking out issues to improve code quality Ability to pay attention to both functional and non-functional requirements Keeping up to date with new technologies within the data landscape Ensuring data quality, performance, and reliability through automated testing, monitoring, and proactive issue resolution Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, deliver data solutions, and optimize processes Qualifications and Experience: Degree in Statistics/Computer Science/ Engineering/ Mathematics (or combination of) 8 years relevant experience Excellent understanding of relational databases, SSIS/SSAS/SSRS and the features available within SQL Server, proficiency using SQL Server in a highly transactional environment Advanced knowledge and understanding of TSQL, query plans and the RDBMS Engine which enables you to identify and resolve complex performance and concurrency issues Can model data given requirements and is able to give recommendations on how systems can be designed to allow for future development Strong understanding of DevOps principles and experience with relevant tools e.g. Azure DevOps for CI/CD, automation, GIT and infrastructure management Considers non-functional requirements when developing or reviewing code (Security, Archiving, etc.) Knowledge of other programming languages eg Python, Powershell or C# Experience with cloud technologies, particularly Azure, services such as Databricks, Event Hubs. Experience with or knowledge of Docker or something similar Experience with or knowledge of K8 (Kubernetes) Exposure working with financial data sets The Reference Number for this position is NG59076 which is a Permanent Hybrid position in Cape Town offering a salary from R750k up to R900k CTC salary negotiable based on experience.
