We are looking for an experienced Superintendent – Transpor t to join our team in Durban. Ensure that all trailers are COF certified and licensed. Ensure that all BPO trailers have valid license and operator card discs affixed to chassis. Schedule trailer COF preparation and repairs. Acquire comparative quotations. Order spares for specific jobs and replenish stock. Update and manage stock systems. Review and submit parts and labour estimates to management for authorization. Ensure repairs are completed in line with guidelines as prescribed by management. Service Provider site visits, inspections, and Audits. Sign off invoices, job cards and submit to Finance. Tyre surveys and respective reporting. Purchase and stock control of tyres and rims. Regular inspections of trailers, vehicles, and file records accordingly. Delegate routine repairs to semi-skilled staff. Supervision of workshop activities. On the road troubleshooting. Ensure sub-contractor mechanical horse compatibility- PTO, Fifth Wheel, Etc. EDMA Update. Matric (Grade 12) Level of education Studying towards a Mechanical Engineering would be an advantage. Computer literate (MS Office; Outlook; Excel; Word) Must have working Knowledge of K2 (at least 2 years) and Cargo Online (COL) at least 5 years' experience. Proven experience in a transport environment. Proven administrative experience. Mechanical knowledge, appreciation, and awareness. Sound knowledge of Coplyn trailers and Flatdecks. Knowledge and understanding of NOSA/ ISO systems and procedures. Sound industrial relations understanding including investigation and initiation of disciplinary enquiries. Availability to work irregular hours as demanded by operations. Assertive and confident by nature. Good interpersonal skills are very important as the incumbent will be expected to communicate on a regular basis with transporters and service providers. The ability to communicate in English and isiZulu would be an advantage as the incumbent will be communicating with a diverse workforce. Valid code 8 driver's license (as a bare minimum).
