Park Ford is looking for the services of a Vehicle Sales Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual that is prepared to push themselves to achieve excellent results. The candidate will need to be confident, driven, have a learning disposition & be prepared to part with knowledge in order to facilitate growth within their team. Park Ford is an independent dealership which started operations in 1984 and the business is based in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng. An overview of the Vehicle Sales Manager position is: •Must be able to exceed sales targets. •Must be able to exceed the OEM Manufacturer's Performance Based Rebate (PBR) targets. •Must be able to meet or exceed the OEM Manufacturer's Customer Satisfaction targets. •Must be able to meet or exceed the OEM Manufacturer's Sales Merit Club targets. •Must be able to run a team of experienced & inexperienced sales executives. •Must drive productivity of the sales team, in line with minimum standards. •Must conduct training for the team. 1. OBJECTIVES & KEY TASKS: 1.1 Improved Profitability: •To ensure sales/profit forecasts are achieved as per the Dealership requirements. •Sales cost not to exceed as per the Dealership requirements. •Rate of stock turnover to be not less than the Dealership requirements. •To ensure increase of local market penetration •To ensure new car stock value does not exceed figures as per Dealership requirements •To ensure utilisation of showroom & forecourt sales space •To maximize sale of extras by attaining sales as per Dealership requirements •To monitor advertising to ensure budget is not exceeded. •To monitor all contracts & leads •To formulate sales targets for each sales person & ensure that these are achieved •To ensure that sales staff receive new model launch training. •To ensure that all car stock, new & old, is sold at a profit 1.2 Customer Satisfaction: •To improve the conversion of showroom callers to sales, as per Dealership Requirements. •To ensure that customer complaints attributable to sales staff do not exceed as per Dealership requirements. •To ensure that all sales staff in "face-to-face" contract receive customer relations training. 1.3 Cost Control: •To examine monthly management accounts •To monitor new car stock •To examine monthly management accounts to ensure that debtor days do not exceed as per Dealership requirements. 2. MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS: 2.1 Staff: •To establish the staffing levels required to achieve departmental objectives. •To select, hire, train & develop sales department staff. •To identify departmental training needs in conjunction with training staff. •To ensure resultant training programmers are completed & adequate records maintained. •Establish & administer "in-dealership" training as required to cater for new model launches. •Operate staff performance & appraisal systems & ensure action taken on results. •Establish & review sales basic pay & incentive schemes. 2.2 Administration: •Ensure all administrative functions, returns, record keeping & clerical operations are carried out at the appropriate time & kept up to date. •Review with Dealer Principal all activities & reporting systems within department. •Ensure that adequate safety & security procedures exist & are operated. •Monitor cleaning of new & used car stock. •Monitor cleanliness of showroom, forecourt sales area & other sales-related areas. 2.3 Communication: •Maintain good liaison with other managers. •Advise Dealer Principal & all other managers on sales matters. •Advice subordinates on appropriate sales related matters. •Maintain direct liaison with manufacturers' representatives & all other contracts. •Propose special sales promotions as appropriate. •Ensure adequate stocks of car & product display material is available. 2.4 Marketing: •Formulate marketing plan, initiate & conduct new car launches & promotions. •Formulate marketing plan & initiate used car sales promotions. •Analyse local customer/car preference statistics & compare with new & used car forecasts, acting on any anomalies detected. •Handle customer complaints & ensure corrective action is taken. •Maintain record of customer complaints or congratulations for analysis & use as required. 2.5 Finance: •Review all pricing policies, discounts & "trade-in" dealings to maintain dealership profitability. •Monitor costs & general condition of demonstrator fleet. •Monitor sales department financial performance weekly. •Monitor credit & finance commission income to ensure budget requirements are met. •Monitor outstanding debtor situation & take appropriate action. •Valuation of trade in cars. •Due diligence with regards to supplier workmanship & pricing. 3. LIMITS OF AUTHORITY: 3.1 Personnel: •Recruitment & dismissal of all staff within agreed limits. 3.2 Operational: •Authorisation to order new cars or purchase/trade-in of new vehicles within agreed targets & forecasts. •Authority to proceed on credit sales applications & determine discounts within agreed limits. •Minimum experience required: 5 years in a similar environment. •Minimum Qualification: Higher Certificate. •A proven track record in vehicle sales. •Able to manage a team of 5 to 7 Sales Executives. •Experience with the specific OEM Manufacturer will be favourable. •Experience with the OEM's VISTA IT system will be favourable. •Financial, online & marketing experience will be favourable. •Internal & external complaint management & resolution will be favourable. •Sales management & marketing skills, knowledge & experience. •Able to manage & administer a department, to provide organisation, systems & leadership. •Up-to-date knowledge of vehicle legislation & of trade practices. •Able to motivate a sales team to achieve objectives. •Sales qualifications and technical qualifications will be an added advantage.
