Macdonald Steel has a vacancy for an experience Warehouse and Logistics Manager in their Durban. The purpose of the role will be to oversee warehouse, inventory control, material handling, customer service, transportation and planning workers/labour. The Warehouse Manager will also be responsible for organising the effective storage and distribution of all material by ensuring that the right products are delivered to the right location on time and at a good cost. In this role the incumbent will also be responsible for transportation, stock control, warehousing and monitoring of the flow of goods. 1. WAREHOUSE AND LOGISTICS EFFICIENCY  Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice logistics vision, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance;  Overseeing Warehouse maintenance and Scheduled Deliveries;  Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirements;  Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs;  Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities;  Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements with the help of direct reports (Warehouse Supervisor/s);  Identify savings by removing waste or unnecessary steps in the logistics process;  Interpret trends and analyse and review data. Provide meaningful logistics data to others in the business to aid customer service and cost improvements. 2. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT  Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvement;  Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports;  Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required; 3. FINANCIAL BUDGET AND CONTROL  Hold responsibility for department budget and ensure control on all expenses. 4. RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT  Develop and maintain strong relationships with all connected with the logistics process;  Ensure all completed orders are dispatched on time;  Ensure compliance with import/export regulations/customs regulations, where applicable, and legal and health & safety requirements. 5. HEALTH AND SAFETY  Comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policies;  Ensure that all functions under supervision operate in accordance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors;  Ensure that the operation of the warehouse meets with the ISO requirements.  Staff files to be updated and assessed regularly. A Formal qualification in Operations Management/Logistics and Warehousing Experience in steel industry is Highly Desired No Less than 5 years experience in a similar role Proven Track Record Driver's License Proven ability to formulate relationships with staff HR and IR Experience ATTRIBUTES AND KEY SKILLS  Strong Leadership skills;  A logical and systematic approach to work;  Good time management ability;  The ability to solve problems and make decisions, as well as think laterally and offer creative solutions;  Commercial awareness and numeracy skills;  Good computer literacy (MSOFFICE / SAGE system and/or other relevant IT system) and the ability to handle electronic data;  Ability to manage change;  Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team, as well as manage people;  Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;  Negotiation and analytical skills;  A positive attitude to continued learning.
