Workshop Manager (Trucks) - Johannesburg

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Workshop Manager to lead a team in Johannesburg Northgate. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all workshop operations, including recruitment of staff and training, managing a team of mechanics, and ensuring efficient and effective service delivery. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of workshop operations, including workshop planning, resource allocation, and workflow management.
  • Manage a team of mechanics, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for new workshop staff, including mechanics and apprentices, and oversee their training and development.
  • Coordinate with the parts department to ensure timely and accurate completion of work orders.
  • Monitor and maintain workshop efficiency and productivity levels, implementing process improvements as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards, conducting regular safety inspections and training sessions.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to optimize equipment performance and longevity.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop strategies for workshop growth and improvement.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role as a Workshop Manager or Service Manager, preferably in the heavy-duty truck industry.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Technical expertise in heavy-duty truck maintenance and repair processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members.
  • Proficiency in workshop management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Red Seal qualification or equivalent certification in heavy-duty truck mechanics or a related field is preferred.
