PURPOSE OF THE POSITION To administer cash received. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Administering of Cash/EFT Payments: Accurately issue receipts for cash received (notes & coins) & EFT payments. Correct allocation on receipts into KFS accounts. Balancing and Banking of cash received: Ensure that all cash office receipts are banked daily or within the next day. Ensure no over– or under banking (surpluses & shortages). End of day balancing. Handling of staff & student enquiries: Efficiently and effectively addressing inquiries from both staff and students regarding student accounts and bursaries, and related matters. Ad hoc requests: Assist with all reasonable and ad hoc tasks that might surface in the line of duty in the MC Student Accounts and Bursaries Department. Occupational Health and Safety (OHS): Under health and safety law, each employee has the duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by the former's actions or omissions at work. Therefore, each employee must co-operate with management, OHS officials and colleagues to help everyone meet their legal requirements, whilst upholding and maintaining general occupational health and safety standards and practices. A Grade 12 with accounting as a subject (NQF level 4). A minimum of two (2) years' cashier experience. ADDED ADVANTAGE A minimum of one (1) year experience within the tertiary education environment. KEY FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: Proficiency in handling cash. Numerical competent. Accuracy with attention to detail. Computer literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet and E-mail). Problem-solving ability. Ability to handle pressure during registration periods. KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES: Independent functioning without close supervision. Client Service Orientation. Critical thinking and Problem Solving. Time Management. REMUNERATION The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
