Our head office and processing plant is situated in Pomona, Gauteng. Review literature to gain an in-depth understanding of concepts, methods, and new developments in the field of chemistry. Use information obtained during literature reviews and external analyses to produce and develop novel ideas. Develop new products through small-scale formulation, pilot plants, and full-scale production. Monitor formulations and give feedback to management on progress. Analyse and write technical reports on the process results. Assist the Chemical Engineering team to refine their existing range of products to improve their quality and production efficiency. Analyse product failure and non-compliance Maintain lab equipment/instrumentation and troubleshoot or report on malfunctions. Ensure compliance with laboratory health and safety guidelines. Routine and non-routine QC analysis for relevant legislation and compliance requirements Stock controlling and stock taking. Compliance to Good Laboratory Practices Ad hoc or other related duties as assigned. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Conduct experiments to recover metals from alloys using various chemical and metallurgical processes. Develop and optimize metal recovery methods to improve efficiency and yield. Perform chemical and physical analyses of alloys to determine metal composition and properties. Troubleshoot and solve complex problems related to metal recovery processes. Collaborate with research teams to design experiments and develop new metal recovery technologies. Maintain accurate records of experiments, procedures, and results. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations in the laboratory. Stay updated with advancements in metal recovery techniques and technologies. Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as needed. Qualifications and experience: BSc or N Dip Analytical Chemistry with at least 3 years' experience within a laboratory. The proven ability to set up systems and enforce compliance will be advantageous. Valid driver's licence Computer Literacy Good verbal and written communication skills Attention to detail and methodical. An interest in in research and development will be beneficial. Knowledge of GLP Experience: Proven experience in metal recovery from alloys, preferably in an industrial or research setting. Strong understanding of chemical principles and metallurgical processes. Proficiency in analytical techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and microscopy. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to overcome challenges. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast- pace environment. Effective communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly. Prior experience with laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
