Reference: JHB000433-CC-1 A Steel fabricator Company in Meyerton, Gauteng is looking for an Overhead Crane Technician to join their team. Job Specification Install, assemble, and test overhead cranes and other lifting machines and equipment according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards. Conduct routine service inspections and preventive maintenance to identify and address potential issues or malfunctions. Perform repairs and troubleshooting on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components of overhead cranes. Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures, including the proper use of prescribed personal protective equipment. Ensuring that machinery and equipment is fully locked out and isolated when repairing such equipment or when such equipment is not safe for use. Ensure annual load testing of all lifting machinery and equipment is carried out in accordance with OHSA Driven Machinery Regulation 18. Collaborate with Senior Management and other team members to develop and implement improvement initiatives. Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices related to overhead crane maintenance and repair. Maintain accurate records of: Work performed; Maintenance and repair logs; Inspection schedules and reports; Lock-out registers; and Electronic files per equipment/crane. Carry out ad-hoc tasks as and where necessary per request from the Employer. Experience and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred. Proven experience as an Overhead Crane Technician or similar role, with a strong understanding of overhead crane installation, maintenance, and repair. Proficiency in electrical and mechanical systems, including troubleshooting and repair. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to overhead crane operations. Familiarity with electrical control systems, PLCs, and motor controls. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with precision. Additional Requirements Fluent in English and preferably Afrikaans, Sesotho and Zulu or Xhosa. Able to comply with OHS and ISO standards set. MS Office proficiency: Outlook; Word; Excel; and Teams. Experience with or the ability to gain knowledge of Sage Evolution. Valid driver's license and frequent driver. Able to climb ladders and working at heights. Able to rig and work from scaffolds. Able to work in confined spaces. Able to work outside normal working hours from time to time and work under pressure. Physically fit to handle storage, loading and offloading of tools and equipment. Adhere to company policies and procedures. Physical stamina and the ability to work in various environments. Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
