Urban-Econ Development Economists (Pty) Ltd requires the services of a young and vibrant Development Economist at their Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumulanga Branches. Key Responsibilities: Compile professional economic research reports and presentations Review and analyse policies; Analyse statistics and demographic information; Draft economic development plans, feasibility studies and strategies; Conduct various economic modelling techniques (Input-Output modelling, multi-sector modelling, Cost Benefit Analyses, Socio-Economic Impact Modelling etc) Conduct relevant primary and secondary research using a variety of techniques; Demonstrate personal insight when solving business issues Facilitate focus-group meetings and workshops; Regular ad-hoc reporting to branch manager and other senior staff; Prepare and deliver presentations to large audiences; Liaise and consult with clients and stakeholders - both verbal and written; Manage specific assignments and serve as the main point of liaison with clients, representing the company; Compile clear and practical work plans for the deliverables with appropriate timeframes and report progress; Draft monthly progress reports to clients; Undertake additional tasks as requested of them by their seniors and Unit Manager. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Experience using the suite of Microsoft Office software (specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint) Experience using relevant econometric techniques (Input-Output modelling, multi-sector modelling, etc.) Experience in Socio-Economic Impact Studies Experience in Cost Benefit Analyses Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management Experience writing proposals Ability to identify information sources and collect information; Ability to carry out research, data collection and conduct analysis; Ability to organise time and meet deadlines; Good numerical skills; Good academic referencing skills; Strong public speaking abilities (Presentations); Must be interested in economic research & development, report writing as well as data analysis. Minimum Requirements (Non-Negotiable): Matric; BCom degree in either Economics, Econometrics, Development Studies; Previous research and project management experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience in a relevant field; Own vehicle and a valid Driver's License (Code B).
