We're looking for an experienced Driver to join our team, with a focus on providing safe and reliable transportation. The ideal candidate will have a clean driving record, experience driving in a professional capacity, and knowledge of the city and surrounding areas. He or she will be responsible for transporting Executives to and from meetings, the airport, and other events, as well as running errands and performing light office duties as needed. The successful candidate will be a safe and courteous driver who takes pride in providing an exceptional level of service. Service Delivery To deliver excellent service in line with business needs and requirements To achieve objectives and targets set Transportation & Deliveries Drive company executives, directors and employees to and from appointments, meetings, conferences, social engagements and other engagements in a safe and timely manner Ensuring that the executive's schedule is organized effectively to maximize productivity Coordinating with other staff members to ensure that all requests are handled appropriately Monitoring traffic conditions, including road construction and congestion, and relaying information to the executive and the office in advance so that alternative arrangements can be made Maintain knowledge of the local area and traffic patterns to ensure efficient route planning Follow directions, travel independently between destinations, identify destination locations and make travel arrangements Airport drop off and pickups Deliveries and collections as and when required Vehicle Maintenance Maintaining the vehicle - clean and in good operating condition Demonstrating the best use of vehicle features and controls Maintenance of fleet vehicles and satellite navigation devices (this includes checking when service is due, tyres and faults). Reporting maintenance requirements to admin / operations staff to attend to accordingly Maintaining a vehicle inventory, ordering parts, arranging for maintenance & service appointments and repairs as needed Keep vehicle stocked with necessary supplies at all times Health & Safety Comply with all company policies and procedures To drive vehicles safely, following the highway code, considering road and weather conditions and being courteous to other drivers Adhere to all traffic laws and defensive driving techniques Attend mandatory safety trainings and meetings Stay calm under pressure and have good driving skills. Helping passengers in and out of the vehicle Assist passengers with luggage and any other needs prior to and after trips Security Providing security for executives and their families, including monitoring their well-being and handling any security threats or issues that arise Assisting with security measures such as checking identification badges at the door of an event or making sure that alarms are set before leaving a building unoccupied Administration To return company vehicles to base completing the necessary paperwork To complete detailed documented checks of both vehicle and mileage recording on the Inspection Sheet and submitting to fleet department Complete daily logs documenting mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents or accidents Report any vehicle problems or maintenance needs to supervisor in a timely manner Communication Must have telephone etiquette – may be required to assist with answering incoming calls as and when required Keep in contact with the office via mobile phone in case anything else arises that needs to be attended to. Other duties Carry out reasonable tasks as requested by your line Manager. Assist with setting up marketing material for fairs, exhibitions and at universities Assist with office administration include but not limited to office filing, stationery / inventory control, assist with banking, and fulfil certain switchboard duties (relief to the switchboard operator) and other administrative tasks. May be asked to perform general office duties as needed, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining files Other duties as assigned Local Events & Activities Staying informed about current local events and activities that may be of interest to the executive so that he or she may be informed about community activities and events Hours Work long hours - early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays Must be able to work after hours as and when required Be on call 24 hours a day and available on short notice General To appear well groomed, representing the company in a professional manner Education & Qualifications: Grade 12 or equivalent A tertiary qualification will serve as a recommendation Certifications & Licenses: A valid South African driver's license PDP A mobile phone Clean driving record (no fines and clean accident record) Security clearance While certifications are not required, it will serve as a recommendation (ideally have an advanced driving qualification) Experience, Knowledge & Requirements: 5 years professional driving experience, preferably in a corporate setting Demonstrable experience within a similar role - Ideally previous experience of driving within a professional environment. Experience driving luxury vehicles Ideally experience of driving different makes and models of vehicles including prestige Face to face customer service experience. Confident, safe and responsible driver. Basic admin skills – ability to complete documents related to expenses and timesheets Extensive knowledge of the Cape Town area - Good geography covering the road network. Ability to lift 50 pounds Flexibility to work long hours, including nights and weekends Multi-lingual Basic knowledge of car maintenance. General knowledge of vehicle makes model and controls. Observant with excellent attention to detail. Good communication skills, able to give instructions and explain basic vehicle controls and appropriate paperwork. Excellent Customer Service ethos happy to work shift patterns Demonstrate behaviour in line with Company values Inspired to Innovate Respectful Fully Accountable Focus on delivery Training: Will receive on-the-job training (which may last for a few weeks) to learn routes and schedules, to operate the employer's vehicles and how to interact with clients and Executives. Competencies & Skills Time management: ability to plan and execute tasks in a timely manner, knowing how long it takes to get to each destination and planning accordingly. Decision-making: ability to make quick decisions that keep their passengers safe and their vehicles in good condition. They also need to be able to make decisions that help them complete their work on time. Communication: ability to communicate with passengers, other drivers and other staff. Communicate with their employer about their schedule and any changes that occur to be more efficient and effective in their job. Problem-solving: Drivers often encounter challenges on the job, and problem-solving skills can help them overcome these challenges. For example, if a passenger has a medical emergency, a Driver may need to think of a way to get the passenger to a hospital as quickly as possible. Drivers can also use problem-solving skills to address issues with the vehicle they're driving or to navigate through traffic. Teamwork: Drivers work with a team of other drivers, dispatchers and other support staff. Teamwork is a necessary skill, as it allows them to work together to ensure the safety of their passengers and the integrity of the company. Apply Now
