Electrical Engineer - Randburg

Education and experience required:
  • Bachelor of Science (4-year) degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the design and development of industrial or mobile equipment controls.
Skills and abilities required:Â
  • Proficient in structured system design techniques and computer-aided design software.
  • Knowledgeable about network protocols including CAN, Ethernet, and Wireless 802.11.
  • Skilled in interpreting electrical engineering drawings and proficient in systems design and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with D/C controls design required, A/C design highly desired.
  • Capable of proposing innovative solutions and effectively managing project risks.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated willingness to take on responsibility and tackle new challenges.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment regularly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and adept at problem-solving and root-cause analysis.

  • Flexibility to work additional hours as required.
  • Occasional travel (including international).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Preferences:Â
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, and SolidWorks 3D Routing.
  • Experience with CodeSys, C++, Telematics, hydraulic circuits, 12V/24V DC electric circuits and/or control systems for off-road construction equipment or heavy industrial equipment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in the design and manufacture of off-road construction equipment.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Product Management to define comprehensive Product Functional Specifications.
  • Utilize Structured System Design techniques for effective control strategy development.
  • Enhance equipment operation simplicity and troubleshooting efficiency through sensor and control technologies.
  • Design equipment according to domestic and international electrical standards for broader market compatibility.
  • Develop modular and easily replaceable electrical hardware designs.
  • Conduct bench tests to ensure proper functionality before integration.
  • Utilize CAD software for electrical design drawings and schematics.
  • Design PCB layouts for control panel integration.
  • Create 3D Junction Box and wiring harness designs for plug-and-play assembly.
  • Lead cross-functional design reviews, contribute to documentation, and drive project success and process enhancements.
