About the job The candidate will be based in Limpopo (Vhembe District) He/she will perform construction inspections as well as schedule, supervise and coordinate field activities. The incumbent will liaise with clients, contractors and other entities. The incumbent will be responsible to help ensure that paperwork is up to date and with accordance with necessary safety laws and regulations. Responsibilities Create and hand out schedules for construction staff working in the field Perform field quality control observations and assessments Inspect and assess the quality of materials being used for construction projects Oversee the work of field staff to ensure efficacy of work procedures Make sure that all construction activities are being carried out in accordance to design and standards. Perform continuous evaluation on trends and ensure that preventative maintenance is managed at each stage of the project Provide technical advice to field staff in order to ensure that construction procedures are being carried out properly Prepare period reports and assessments for each project phase Identify construction constraints, plan and carry out measures to counter them Implement site construction monitoring system Issue drawings, site instructions and approval of payment certificates. Key Knowledge Areas and Competencies Excellent track record of successfully working with contractors Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Flexibility in schedule and ability to meet deadlines Ability to work as part of a team Attention to detail Understanding of COLTO and GCC Personal Competencies Proactive Detail oriented Ability to work under time pressure BSc Civil Engineering or B-Tech degree (Civil) ECSA registered or eligible for registration within 6 months. 10 years' experience on roads construction R45 000 - R70 000
