Export Controller Durban / Umhlanga area Market related salary Large freight forwarding company is seeking an experienced export controller to join their team (Air and Sea freight). Overall, the Export Controller plays a crucial role in ensuring that export shipments are processed smoothly, legally, and efficiently, meeting both client expectations and regulatory standards. Documentation Management: Prepare and manage export documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and export licenses. Ensure all documentation meets regulatory requirements of both the exporting and importing countries. Customs Compliance: Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure proper customs clearance procedures are followed. Stay updated with changes in customs regulations and ensure compliance with export laws and regulations. Shipping Coordination: Arrange transportation and shipping of goods to international destinations, ensuring timely delivery. Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and shipping lines to optimize logistics and minimize costs. Customer Service and Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding export shipments. Communicate with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to provide updates on shipment status and resolve any issues that may arise. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with export shipments, such as delays, damages, or regulatory non-compliance. Implement strategies to minimize potential risks and ensure smooth export operations. Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of export transactions, including shipping details, costs, and compliance documents. Generate reports on export activities, shipment volumes, and performance metrics as required by clients or management. Compliance Monitoring: Conduct audits and checks to ensure adherence to export controls and trade compliance regulations. Implement best practices for export compliance and monitor changes in export laws and regulations. Problem Solving and Resolution: Address any issues or challenges related to export shipments promptly and efficiently. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to find solutions and improve export processes. Training and Development: Provide guidance and training to internal staff and clients on export procedures, compliance requirements, and best practices.
