The Fleet Operations Manager will oversee a fleet of Light Duty Vehicles (LDVs) operating on mining sites. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background, excellent analytical and reporting abilities, and ensure cost control/optimization and compliance by measuring specific elements related to the fleet and running costs of maintenance impact, including staff costs and down time. With a considerable operational experience, they will ensure the efficient and effective operation, maintenance, and management of the vehicle fleet. Fleet Management: Oversee the daily operations of a fleet of LDVs operating on mining sites. Coordinate with stakeholders and the fleet team to ensure proper vehicle operation and maintenance. Review current structures and develop and implement strategies for vehicle allocation, utilization, and scheduling to optimize productivity. Mechanical Maintenance: Utilize mechanical expertise to assess vehicle lifespan and detect mechanical issues early. Review, implement and oversee preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend vehicle life. Ensure timely and effective servicing and repairs, collaborating with internal and external service providers. Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize technology-driven data to monitor and analyze vehicle performance and health. Generate detailed reports and records on vehicle status, maintenance activities, fuel consumption, excessive kilometres, driver behaviour (aggressive driving, harsh braking, speed limit violations, private stops/use and GPS antenna disconnections), insurance claims/accidents amongst others. And actively communicate with Line Managers and all other stakeholders. Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to improve fleet efficiency and reduce costs. Cost Control: Develop and manage budgets for fleet operations, maintenance, and repairs. Implement cost-saving measures without compromising vehicle performance or safety. Monitor all vehicle expenses including fines and insurance and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements. Compliance and Management: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations (e.g. registration and license all company vehicles including police clearances) and company policies regarding fleet operations and vehicle maintenance. Provide couching, training to promote driver alertness for safe and efficient driving practices. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements and that the image of the vehicle is up to Trysome's standard. Manage the fleet team and allocate functions to ensure smooth running of the companies fleet. Degree or equivalent in supply chain management/logistics/business Financial acumen Driver's License with no endorsements 5 years' experience in fleet management, in an automotive setting. Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of automotive and mechanical repairs Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using fleet management software and other relevant technologies. Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in fleet management and vehicle maintenance. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
