Intermediate Legal Advisor - FreeRecruit - South Africa

DUTIES: Timeous and accurate drafting, vetting and updating of legal documentation such as contracts and correspondence. Advising internal stakeholders on applicable legislation, including but not limited to the National Credit Act, relevant Insurance legislation, Debt Collectors’ Act and Protection of Personal Information Act. Ensuring the implementation and monitoring of the contract conclusion and sign-off policy. Providing legal support to the HR department by advising on Employee Relations matters throughout the employee lifecycle and representing the Company at the CCMA where required. Management of legal watch process through research and reporting on legal developments. Assisting with legal risk management in accordance with the company’s Legal Risk Framework. Attending training seminars and workshops on relevant legal topics and implementing best practice. Training and educating staff to ensure a culture of compliance with applicable laws and best practice. Representing Legal at selected committees and forums. Assisting with internal reporting and shareholder management. Management of functional projects. Contracts administration and assisting various business areas with contracts management. REQUIREMENTS: Admitted Attorney. Good understanding of South African laws applicable to Financial Services. Strong drafting and advisory experience. Minimum of 5 years post-articles experience preferably within a top tier law firm/s and/or financial services. Expert knowledge of governing legislation (e.g.: NCA, FAIS, Companies Act etc.). Previous experience in the Financial Services industry – advantageous. ATTRIBUTES: Business acumen. Able to think and act systemically.
