Join our client's dynamic team in Howick as a Junior Compounder (Polymer/Rubber) You will play a pivotal role in the development of new compounds. You will also be the custodian of these compounds, ensuring their optimal performance during mixing and in the final product. A Degree in Science or Chemistry or a Diploma in Polymer Technology ess. Only 2 years exp. required in compounding. Compound and or Polymer Additional requirements: Experience in Quality Management systems. Knowledge regarding, SHEQ and other legal requirements. Managing Hazardous chemical substances. Skilled in interpreting chemical TDS and MSDS. Personality traits: Attention to detail. Cost-conscious and improvement oriented. Team-oriented. Collaborative in management and personal responsibilities. Responsibilities: Conduct research and utilize technology. Ensure safe and efficient operation of laboratory equipment. Ensure thorough testing of all rubber compounds, including R&D projects and final products, adhering to appropriate methodologies. Compound design & development: Develop rubber formulations to meet processing, cost, product, and market performance criteria. Prepare R&D/experimental prototypes on a laboratory pilot scale. Scale up experimental pilot to plant-level production. Address customer needs and requirements. Test and approve pilot production for mass production. Obtain processing feedback from customers and establish laboratory mixing control limits. Implement new technologies to align with current economic conditions. Provide daily support to the compound development manager and troubleshoot issues as needed. Laboratory management: Quality control and final product release. Manage and report non-conforming products and raw materials. Oversee internal capacity and prioritize tasks. Lead and develop people: Plan for succession in anticipation of retirements. Develop deputies for key functions. Health and safety: Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality policies (ISO 14001). Annually Apply Now
