We are looking for Legal Practitioner with at least five years' experience responsible for overseeing all legal activities within the company . The candidate must have construction OR building services experience . The position is based in Alberton Provide advice to business on potential legal risks , claims etc Perform al company secretarial functions within the company Drafting and negotiating various agreements across the company ensuring compliance with legislative requirements Advise and oversee Service Level Agreements and contracts with clients , sub-contractors , sub consultants etc Ability to advise Exco and operations on all current business and client's contracts Review and draft departmental policies including authority and delegation's framework. Projects – work and coordinate all activities with external counsel on project acquisition agreements, SLA's and pending litigations Participate and oversee the Risk Committee reporting to legal risk committee. Attend and present legal risk to Executive Committee regularly Review and negotiating contract extensions OR amendments as in when SLA , Sub-contracting or sub-consulting services are needed, or current contract is approaching the end Review and draft Terms of References for all areas of business including but not limited to Tenders, Bid submissions or Request for Proposal, Reviewing various agreements inclusive of the following type of agreements: Consider the legal risks in the agreements inclusive of Limitation of Liability – request to exceed normal limit. Provision of internal legal opinions to as requested by the service lines or the General Counsel negotiation, drafting/reviewing of agreements and other legal documentation. Assistance dealing with managing disputes and litigation matters(commercial) , and compliance, legislative and regulatory requirements as requested by the General Counsel Assist in the maintenance of a register of legal work done. Conduct ,oversee and mitigate the Legal Compliance Risk Register quarterly Conduct skills audit for the department on a continuous basis and report on skills gap to Senior Management and Human Resources monthly. Strong analytical, literacy and numerical skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Proven effective leadership skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Adhere to Mekan QMS policy , process, and procedures Adhere to Mekan HR policies Bachelor's degree Professional Registration with Legal Practitioners Council Valid Driver's license No criminal record Willingness to work overtime when necessary Minimum of Five years' experience Strong organisational and project management skills Experience in a construction , project management and engineering industry is ideal Must be willing to travel Basic Salary ( Market related depending on skills, competency and experience) Pension Fund Benefit Medical Aid Professional Membership Fee Sponsorship Travel reimbursements.
