CORE PURPOSE OF JOB |
To manage and coordinate the Thuthuka programme of the Department of Accounting Sciences and to engage with key internal and external stakeholders. The Thuthuka programme is a high-profile initiative which offers academically strong South African black and coloured students with funding (by way of a bursary) and structured educational support to assist them to qualify as Chartered Accountants (SA) |
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS |
- Formulate and oversee the implementation of the strategic priorities for the Thuthuka programme.
- Market the programme and recruit academically strong students for the programme.
- Monitor academic performance of students and initiate appropriate academic interventions in consultation with academic staff.
- Coordinate academic development and student wellness programmes (wrap around support) with the aim of improving retention and throughput rates.
- Liaise with student housing and residential managers to ensure accommodation of students.
- Manage the financial administration of the programme
- Recruit and manage human resources as required for the programme (staff assisting with day-to-day administration, tutors, mentors etc)
- Manage relationships with key Internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide input into research projects undertaken pertaining to the programme.
- Report to university management and SAICA Thuthuka office.

REQUIREMENTS |
To be considered for appointment to this post, candidates should preferably possess a relevant honours degree (or equivalent) with at least three years relevant management experience, preferably in a tertiary educational environment. |
