Company: OAQS Quantity Surveyors Location: Somerset West, Western Cape, SA Job Type: Full-time About Us: OAQS is a leading and well established, sustainable quantity surveying company in South Africa in the profession for over 35 years with a small but well experienced and competent management and employee content, seeking an experienced quantity surveyor to join our team. Our projects are of diverse nature in the built environment with several being of bespoke and interesting nature. The professional teams and clients we are and have been involved with through many years proved being cooperative, proactive and professional with success in project outcomes. Job Summary: OAQS seeking a highly skilled candidate or professional Quantity Surveyor, registered with the SACQSP, with a minimum of 5 years of full-service experience to provide Quantity Surveying services and manage construction projects from inception to final completion (Stage 1-6). The following: Responsibilities, but not limited hereto: - Complete PROCSA QS//CLIENT Agreements - Work individually or under minimum supervision - Prepare and manage project budgets, cost estimates, viabilities, and contracts. - Attend and participate in project planning meetings - Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies - Collaborate with clients ( as may be required), project/development managers, principal agents, architects, and engineers, etc. - Prepare and submit reports to clients and management - Advise, compile tender documents, procurement of tenders, and reporting - Compile contract documentation - Administer the construction process according to the services as included within the PROCSA QS//CLIENT Agreement - Arrange and complete final account negotiations, final account, and final statement of account. - Attend to office administration from time to time as may be required. Requirements: - Degree in BSc Quantity Surveying or equivalent - Minimum 5 years of full-service experience as a Quantity Surveyor in South Africa - Professional membership in good standing with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP) and Association of Quantity Surveyors South Africa (ASAQS) if a registered professional Quantity Surveyor. - Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations in South Africa - Excellent communication and negotiation skills - Proficient in Microsoft Office and specialized software (WinQS, DimX) - Valid SA drivers license - Valid South African bar coded ID book or card - Own vehicle (Roadworthy and valid licensed) (Company vehicle will be available from time to time for internal business use only) - Traveling required from home and to place of work by own transport - Traveling from place of work to project, planning meetings, etc within approximately 120km radius (Use of own vehicle for travelling to out of town visits, will be reimbursed at AA rates) - Flight, accommodation, meals, etc. will be reimbursed as may be required and pre-approved for such travel - Crime free record - Commencement date: 01 July 2024 or as close to this date as possible (will be discussed) What We Offer: - Competitive salary - Opportunity to work on high-profile projects in South Africa (Substantial exclusive and boutique commercial, hospitality and residential projects with high profile clients) - Professional development and training opportunities - Candidate Quantity Surveyor's internal ongoing mentorship for registration purposes - Access to vast experience and knowledge - Collaborative and dynamic work environment How to Apply: If you are a motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for a new challenge, please submit your resume and cover letter, at least 5 (five) references of a combination of project clients, architects, principal agents, project managers, previous/current employer/s, on platform and to adminoaqs.co.za with "OAQS, QS APPLICATION, [YOUR INITIALS, SURNAME, SACQSP MEMBERSHIP NO]" in email subject space.
