We are seeking a seasoned Resident Engineer with a minimum of 15 years of experience to oversee and manage water-related construction projects in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall planning, direction, organisation, and cost control of water construction projects, ensuring they are completed to the highest safety and quality standards within specified time and cost constraints. Additionally, the Resident Engineer will mentor junior engineers and develop methodologies for project execution. Skills and Knowledge Transfer: Coach and transfer skills to junior resources on site. Site Management Methodologies: Develop and implement site methodologies to ensure sites are managed correctly and safely. Management of Various Water Projects: Oversee and manage multiple sites with the relevant Resident Engineers (RE) / Assistant Resident Engineers (ARE) to ensure correct project execution Permits and Licenses: Assist REs with ensuring all necessary permits and licenses are obtained before starting construction activities on sites. Safety Planning: Assist REs with the development of safety plans in collaboration with the Engineer / Approved Professional Person (APP) and Site Health and Safety Officer / Consultant. Constructability: Set up and oversee the constructability process with the Design Engineer / APP. Coordination: Coordinate with the client, APP, project manager, contractor, and sub-contractors for project reporting procedures and formats. Quality Control: Establish and monitor project quality procedures on water projects. Work Inspections: Inspect work to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and quality control plans. Budget and Schedules: Review and approve construction estimates, budgets, forecasts, and schedules. Construction Strategies: Develop strategies for construction interfaces and methods, proactively addressing potential issues. Contract Administration: Apply in-depth understanding and application of GCC 2015 3rd edition for contract administration. Liaison: Liaise with the client team, Engineers, and Contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, timely, and within budget. Site Staffing: Review and recommend contractor site organization and staffing on projects. Resource Management: Recommend and manage construction resources and strategies to meet project schedules. Compliance: Ensure adherence to all by-laws, local regulations, and statutory requirements. Claims Management: Assist with the management of contractor claims. Meeting Management: Assist with chairing monthly progress meetings in the absence of the Project Manager / APP. ISO Compliance: Ensure compliance with ISO9001/2015 QMS systems for information management. Experience: Minimum 15 years of relevant water-related engineering experience Qualifications: BSc. Eng. (Civil) / B.Eng. Civil or B. Tech Civil Registration: ECSA registration is preferred Specialization: Water reticulation, water treatment, water pump stations, bulk water pipelines, and concrete structural projects Apply Now
