Job Description Supply Chain The BDM (Business Development Manager) will need to understand the full supply chain system in terms of product being distributed from the SA Health warehouse facilities, through to the relevant RDC (regional Distribution Centre) or Retail Store. The risks associated with stock being delivered to the RDC and getting lost in the system. Merchandising The BDM will work with a merchandising team, Whether Inhouse or outsourced, monitoring in store merchandisers, instore planograms and brand awareness. BDM will be responsible to monitor sell through of products supplied by SA Health to customers and will be required to follow up and obtain repeat orders/replenishment orders. Marketing The BDM must have a good understanding of the different marketing mediums available for the various product categories he will be working with He/she will need to work with the relevant buyers to put together deals for brochures, seasonal catalogues or yearly campaigns, such as Easter Birthdays, Black Friday and Christmas etc. Private Label working with designers and marketing agencies, putting together new product development Good understanding of Microsoft packages, such as word, excel, power point. He will be required to put together new power point presentations and new product presentations. Costings Understanding of different pricing models, how they work, the markups required for each product line, the margins required and the profits required He will have to set a budget for the retail sector, with bonuses and profit shares paid yearly once the budgets are audited. The BDM will be required to maintain a 25% Gross profit on the sale of all stock items and will need to maintain a minimum of an 8% net profit before tax in order to qualify for any commissions to be paid to him. Negotiate terms and pricing, selling points and trading terms with all customers Understand reporting systems, working with sell throughs, aged stock, order forecasting and projections Responsible for correct buying of stock, stock holding, stock rotation and stock turns. Ensuring that stock is sold before it reaches its expiry date Call Cycles Putting together monthly, weekly call cycles Working with Buyers, maintaining relationships at both store level and head office level Understanding corporate business management General The BDM will need to work independently, manage deadlines and working hours. Strong leadership values and experience in managing teams below him is essential Manage meeting and ensure that minutes of those meetings are sent to the relevant parties The candidate must have the following experience Must know retail, dealing with Shoprite, Dischem, clicks etc Must have product knowledge in medical, cosmetics, medicines and retail products Must be able to work with a team but also alone Must have a car, Valid drivers license and passport Good understanding of Microsoft packages, such as word, excel, power point.
