Purpose of the role We are looking for a qualified computer programmer with extensive knowledge of the IBM AS400 to join our outstanding IT team at our corporate office in Johannesburg Sunninhgill. This position codes, tests, debugs, documents, and installs new and upgrade changes to the existing AS400 RPG IV in order to provide quality IT services to employees using iSeries. This position also designs programs and technology under the direction of the Director of IT Duties and Responsibilities Assist with development and implementation of new applications and process improvements/solutions. Assist with creating and developing specifications for programming or modifications as needed. Provide end-user support and assistance, and administration of business applications. Create appropriate documentation related to both applications set up and end user processes. Ensure security of all systems and related applications. Perform special projects and other responsibilities as needed. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice. Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required Degree in Computer Science or related field 5 – 7 years' experience in software engineering • Knowledgeable with rapid application development concepts. • Knowledgeable with software prototyping and data modeling. • Technical experience with IBM iSeries platform/RPG • Technical experience with ERP Systems. Knowledge of the SDLC • Familiarity with software implementations. • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team. • Potential on-call duty required. Work Requirements The position will be based in Sunninghill. Own transport essential Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients, stakeholders, or off-site personnel/management.
