The candidate will form part of one of the USSD MyVodacom Support team and will be responsible for the day-to-day 3rd level support of the MyVodacom USSD environment and since this is a 24x7x365 environment, he/she will also be expected to do standby duty. As this is a very busy environment and continuous delivery is expected, with deployments to production usually 4 times a week, the ability to work under pressure is essential. The candidate could also assist the MyVodacom developers troubleshooting the system. He/she will also form part of a larger team and must be a good team player Candidates should contribute to improvements to our processes and systems. Ability to work under pressure is important. Candidates should be able to work solo or as part of a team on others. Responsibilities: · Attend to all logged support incidents and calls. · Perform root cause analysis using the RCA template when required and review of RCA templates completed by junior support engineers. · 24x7 standby. · Provide technical support & consultation services on the supported systems as required by Vodacom. · Ensuring all system changes are handed over with the necessary documentation and training. · Assisting in the setup of monitoring and alerting systems. · Proactively ensure that the systems meet the growing load demands by continuously re-evaluating the infrastructure and software architectures. · Preventative maintenance—When corrective maintenance activities are low, work will be conducted to analyse & take steps to prevent problems. · Provide architectural guidance and domain specific consultation on the supported systems. · Assist Developers to troubleshoot issues. · Attend boilers when required. · Assist administrator in creating and completing monthly reports. · Attend the monthly Vodacom TSS support meeting. · Plan and assist developers to keep the DEV, QA and CP systems synchronised. · Assist developers from time to time with code deployments. · Mentoring and training of new and junior support engineers. Accountability · Ensure his/her support tickets are completed correctly and timeously. · Completion of all required reports when required. · Ensuring all required documentation is completed on time and uploaded to the required directories. · Ensure that no SLA breaches occur. · Maintaining and contributing to system standards. · Ensuring time logging is done daily. Must have Experience: · A high degree of interest, experience, and certification in Linux. · A tertiary Engineering or Computer Science degree. · Shell scripting ability for system administration. · Linux system administration (RedHat/Centos, Apache/NGINX, MySQL/MariaDB/MongoDB, Bash, Python). · Knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, SOAP, HTTP, XML, RADIUS, Diameter, SCTP). · Ability to learn quickly and work independently. Nice to have Experience: · Telecommunications technologies (SS7, SIGTRAN, MTP, SCCP, TCAP, MAP, CAP, etc). · Load Balancers, Routers, Firewalls. · Big Data / Analytics / Monitoring experience using Elastic, Tableau, Grafana, Prometheus. · OpenStack, KVM, Xen, VMware, Docker, Kubernetes, Redis.
