Transport Manager role available in the steel industry Responsibilities Fleet Management: Oversee the maintenance, repair, and servicing of all vehicles in the fleet, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of drivers, mechanics, and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations. Logistics Coordination: Develop and implement effective transportation strategies to ensure timely and cost-efficient delivery of goods and services. Compliance and Safety: Ensure all fleet operations comply with local and national safety regulations and standards, conducting regular safety audits and inspections. Budget Management: Prepare and manage the fleet maintenance budget, tracking expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Vendor Management: Coordinate with external service providers and suppliers for vehicle parts, repairs, and other services, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness. Reporting: Generate and analyze reports on fleet performance, maintenance activities, fuel consumption, and other key metrics, providing insights for continuous improvement. Customer Service: Collaborate with the customer service team to address and resolve any transport-related issues, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. Requirements Red Seal qualified Diesel Mechanic certification. 5 years of experience in a similar role within the transportation industry. In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, vehicle maintenance, and repair techniques. Proven experience in managing and leading a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to analyze data, generate reports, and make informed decisions to improve fleet operations. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail. Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle unexpected issues and emergencies calmly and efficiently. Valid driver's license; additional licenses for operating heavy-duty vehicles will be an advantage. R 60 000
