VMWare vSphere and Horizon Administrator - Midrand
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Matric plus Diploma/Degree in Information Technology or related field.
Minimum of three years of experience in managing Windows Desktop Operating Systems.
Minimum of three years of experience in VMware vSphere.
Minimum of two years of experience in VMware Horizon.
Experienced in working with DNS, DHCP, NTP, and Active Directory.
Good knowledge of network concepts such as Load Balancers, Firewalls, VLANs, and Subnets.
The minimum certification requirement for the role is a
VMware Certified Professional Desktop Management (VCP-DTM) or
VMware Certified Professional Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)
Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot and support all the components within a complex vSphere and Horizon deployment, including: Cloud Pod Architecture, Connection Brokers, Universal Access Gateways, VMware vSphere (vCenter, ESXi, vROPS), MS Desktop applications and Profile management and App Volumes.
Install, configure and manage a complex VMware vSphere infrastructure, including virtual network configuration, storage allocation, and configuration of DRS and HA to meet the requirements of a Horizon environment.
Proficient in the use of monitoring tools and applications with regards to the Horizon environments and the underlying vSphere infrastructure.
Creating and packaging applications using the Horizon Application publishing tools, such as App Volumes and ThinApp.
Create and maintain Active Directory Group Policies.
Perform activities that support user needs, including determining user rights & levels, conducting compatibility testing for new equipment, making system updates/ upgrades, troubleshooting systems equipment & connectivity issues, and scheduling & testing of update packages. Creating and maintenance of Virtual Images.
Create and maintain operational and configuration documentation related to the supported Horizon Environments.
Daily administration of VDI and vSphere Environments
Trouble shoot errors experienced on Horizon and vSphere.
