Our Client, based in Ballito, is looking for a Wetland Specialist to join their team. The successful incumbent must have proven experience in wetland delineation and classification, wetland vegetation identification, and in the application of published wetland assessment tools (i.e. WET-Health and WET-EcoServices). Conduct field surveys to identify and delineate wetland boundaries and types. Sample collection. Regularly monitor wetland conditions, including water levels, quality, and wildlife presence. Use GIS, wetland assessment tools and other tools. Prepare detailed reports on findings, including the status and condition of wetland areas. Ensure that all activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations concerning wetlands. Project management. Compiles tenders. Work with various stakeolders inclduing landowners, government agencies. Review and interpret relevant environmental regulations and guidelines. BSc Honours Degree in appropriate environmental field or equivalent (MSc preferable). Experience post-qualification experience in wetland assessments. SACNASP Professional Registration. Proven work experience in Wetland delineation and assessment; Wetland offsetting and mitigation strategies; Wetland rehabilitation. GIS expertise. Experience in aquatic and hydropedology assessments will strengthen the application. Own vehicle. Knowledge of AutoCAD will be an advantage. Excellent scientific report writing skills. Proposal / tender compilation and management. Famililar with National Water Act, 1998 (Act 36 of 1998) and related policies, strategies and guidelines and other environmental legislation. Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills. The willingness to travel extensively and work extended hours when required. Able to take initiative & work independently with minimal supervision. Apply Now
