As a Coal Trader your role is to facilitate the buying and selling of coal as a commodity, ensuring efficient and profitable transactions within the energy market. Identify and research potential clients in target markets Pursuing leads and moving them through the sales cycle Developing quotes and proposals for prospective clients Assist in the growth of the coal trading business and develop knowledge of coal trading business Manage trading activities and operations, developing opportunities to extend the Company's sourcing of coal. Develop and maintain relationships with coal producers, suppliers, and consumers to facilitate smooth transactions as well as ensure timely contract negotiation and execution Prepare a robust pipeline of possible trading opportunities in and around South Africa. Monitor market activities and contractual performance. Take overall responsibility for the coal book and the coal position; monitor and evaluate risk and ensuring proper flow of information regarding the position; ensuring regular reporting to the Management Committee on transactions, financial commitments and profitability. Retain an overview and ultimately control the day-to-day trading activity; formulate and implement the coal trading policy and business plan. Represent the business at senior level both commercial and governmental; maintain strong personal relationships at senior level with producers and consumers, processors, shippers and the financial community. Identify and develop opportunities in which the Company's infrastructure, reputation and financial strength can be used to advantage, for example in strategic alliances, investment opportunities, acquisitions and partnerships with producers, processors, consumers. Manage the logistics of coal transportation, including shipping, storage, and delivery to ensure timely and efficient movement of coal. Monitor the South Africa and global coal market trends, including supply, demand, pricing, and regulatory changes. University degree and a demonstrable interest in trading Maximum of three years' proven experience in coal trading or a related field, demonstrating a deep understanding of energy markets, supply chains, and trading strategies. Strong negotiation and communication skills to effectively interact with suppliers, buyers, and other stakeholders. Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze market trends, data, and financial information. Problem-solving skills to address unexpected challenges and make informed decisions. Knowledge of international trade regulations, shipping logistics, and risk management. Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for data analysis, communication, and documentation. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage complex transactions and contracts. Ethical conduct and compliance with legal and industry standards.
